[2010 Tribute to Iron Maiden viral entry #4]
Seperti kes Death Magnetic, album ni merupakan album studio terkini Iron Maiden (album studio ke-14) walaupun release empat tahun yang lepas 2006 - A Matter Of Life And Death atau lebih dikenali sebagai AMOLAD di kalangan Maiden fans. Yup aku tau diorang ada release album Flight 666, tapi itu kan album live bukan album studio.
(P)(C) 2006 Iron Maiden Holdings Ltd. under exclusive license to EMI Records Ltd. Edaran EMI (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. Malaysian pressing la ni. CD ni aku beli pada 14/10/2006 dengan harga ntah aku lupa mungkin dalam RM32-35 kot, kat Imperial Mall, Miri . Yup, hari dan shopping complex yang sama waktu aku beli A Real Live Dead One, tapi beli kat kedai lain (proper CD/cassette shop) selepas tensen dengan tauke kedai yang satu tadi tu.
Dan merupakan CD original Iron Maiden yang kedua dalam koleksi aku. Semenjak album AMOLAD ni aku dah berhenti dari membeli versi kaset (sebenarnya semenjak album Dance Of Death lagi) and focus more to CD version, disebabkan versi CD lebih banyak kelebihannya (satu daripadanya senang aku nak pasang kat Imago).
Tracklist? Tak payah listdown la kan... Pastinya semua lagu dalam album-album Maiden memang best. Jadi, review pasal lagu-lagu dalam album ni aku serahkan kepada peminat tegar Iron Maiden untuk mengulasnya.
Dalam inlay seperti biasa, ada lirik lagu (Iron Maiden tak pernah kedekut lirik, tak macam sesetengah band lain) dan gambar band members, tapi gambar Adrian Smith kat atas ni menarik perhatian aku, double-headed custom Jackson Dinky yang aku rasa hanya digunakan dalam studio dan bukanlah gitar yang selesa dimainkan di atas pentas.
Owh btw, pada sapa-sapa yang minat firearms and military hardware pastinya akan perasan logo Eddie dan carbines (ala-ala logo lanun) tu ada kesilapannya. Magazine carbine M-16A tu terletak kat hujung barrel sememangnya bullshit kan? Hehehe... Sepatutnya diorang ganti dengan riffle bolt-action Lee-Enfield, barulah nampak lagi vintage British WWII.

Dan disebabkan tema cover-art merupakan tema WWII, Eddie pegang Thompson SMG dan uniform dan helmet skeleton army tu merupakan uniform US Army circa 1940 era WWII kalau dikirakan dah oke, tapi tank (errr kereta kebal) yang digunakan nampak macam Merkava atau modern Abrams, sepatutnya digantikan dengan Sherman atau Crusader. Aik? Melalut dah aku ni kritik pasal cover-art... Tapi selain 'kesilapan' yang aku mention tadi, cover-art album ni memang best! Antara cover-art Maiden yang berbeza daripada yang lain.

seperti biasa, cover2 Maiden memang ada defect untuk para peminat teliti detail nya... topik ini cukup digemari oleh brader Deaf Angel.

TIM: "You know, when we talked about restrictive, it was very restrictive. Well, they knew exactly what they wanted, and they had a piece of key art already. They couldn't use the key art, they wanted to use the key art for the album cover, but it was composed of images that were patched together from a 100 different places and it was low resolution, and no way to do it. So they called me to basically redraw and paint it and I realized very quickly that I was going to have to re-shoot a lot of the elements of it, so it became a fairly big production. The tank, the undead soldiers, everything in there was exactly placed, colored, and realized exactly how Maiden wanted it, so I just had to try and reproduce that. I didn't get a lot of leeway with how I wanted to interrupt it, I had to pretty much come in and do what they wanted. I never talked to Steve Harris and those guys aren't on the computer, they don't do e-mail, they don't do any of that stuff, so I ended up working through this company called Peacock designs UK, who handle their account and their management. It was tough, but it came out really well. I'm very pleased and I'm very tickled, because as a kid in 1985 I drew Eddy on every notebook I had, and I was such an Iron Maiden fan. You never think you're going to get an opportunity like this, so when they called I just about fell out of my chair."
